Usually a copy of the actual page of the approved Standard in the "Domestic Rabbit" is needed to present to judges at a show. Gail Gibbon's current approved Standard was due to come out in the Jan/Feb "Domestic Rabbit" but was badly misprinted. So what do you do now?? Here is Gail's response to this....
"I have received a call back today from the Chairperson of the ARBA Standards Committee - Cheryl Eng-Link. She said that the ARBA will be posting a correction to the Domestic Rabbit (Jan/Feb) on their website as well as correcting the error with the Lionhead Standard in the next issue of Domestic Rabbit in the Standard Committee Report Section. Hopefully this next issue of Domestic Rabbit (March/April) should also carry a copy of the revised Gibbons' Standard for the Lionhead Breed.
The incorrect version was printed due to some issues that ARBA was having with their computer system awhile back. The correct version was sent in by Mike Aversing with his report, and he was unaware till yesterday that the incorrect version had been accidentally printed.
Again please continue to use the Gibbons Lionhead Standard revised '08.
You will find it posted at www.cimmarononline. com
* This is the only standard that can be used for the Lionhead Breed at an ARBA show at this time.
* Only the Siamese Sable Lionhead has passed a showing and it is the ONLY color that a local ARBA club has to accept for showing at this point.
* You may add additional colors AS LONG AS YOU HAVE A WRITTEN DESCRIPTION for the color.
* How the local shows choose to deal with colors other then Siamese Sable is at their discretion.
Some will allow all colors, some only allow colors that have active CODs on file, some only allow the 5 colors on the Gibbons COD.
At many shows out west they allow the 5 colors on the Gibbons COD and all other colors are placed in an AOV class.
If you are uncertain as to how the clubs you wish to show at handle the Lionhead breed it is always a good idea to call ahead. Traveling a long distance to find out you will not be allowed to show the colors you have with can make for a very unhappy weekend.
Just for information
- Right now the NALRC is allowing all colors with CODs on file at the time their entries close to show at their National Show in May.
- The early word I have from California (ARBA Convention) is that they will accept all 5 colors on the Gibbons COD.
Which is better then only Siamese Sable or none so that is good news.
I hope this is helpful to everyone
Gail Gibbons, holder of the 1st COD for the Lionhead Breed"
Thank you Gail.
